A representative of Stellan is shown in the photo above. We use no molds for our figures. Each face is handsculpted, one at a time, which means each face is slightly different and will not look exactly like the face in the photo. This is what makes each handmade doll unique.

Stellan is waiting in the snowy forest, just before dusk, for the other nisser to arrive. It is a nisse annual tradition - for on the eve of Christmas, the nisser gather together to exchange holiday wishes, and to hang festive stockings from the tree limbs. These are not the same holiday stockings they have back in their homes, hanging from their little hearths. These stockings are just for the woodland creatures, who will find them mysteriously filled to the brim in the morning, with everything a squirrel, bird or other, could wish to celebrate the day with.
Stellan is 14" tall (12" when seated), as measured from the top of his head (not the top of his hat) to the bottom of his boots. Stellan's soft green tunic is made of cotton velvet lined with warm yarn-dyed cotton flannel. His sleeves are yarn-dyed cotton, his legs are cotton velvet and his deep-red hemp fleece hat is topped with an organic cotton yarn tassel. His boots are ultrasuede (now partially made from plant materials), as is his belt, from which hangs a pewter pinecone.
Stellan's holiday stocking is made from vintage organic colorgrown cotton. Organic colorgrown cotton grows naturally in this beautiful color - no pesticides and no dyes are used. It is embellished with handstitched patches, vintage Swedish trim, and glass beads.
Stellan's face is bamboo felt. His blue eyes are hand blown, hand painted German glass. We handmake his beard from natural light gray-brown flax fiber. He is stuffed with a combination of recycled glass pellets and organic cotton stuffing. His arms are wired and his head turns.
All of our figures are 100% vegan. Stellan comes with a solid cedar seat (shown below and to the left), and a Legend of the Nisse story tag.
