We individually handsculpt each Tula's face using felt over clay. Her eyes are handblown/handpainted German glass. Her hair is made from natural flax fiber (grey) or natural hemp fiber (creamy white). She is stuffed with a combination of glass pellets and organic cotton stuffing. Her arms are wired. Tula is 14" tall (12" when seated), as measured from the top of her head (not the top of her hat) to the bottom of her boots.
We use no molds for our figures, which means each face is different. This is what makes each handmade doll unique. While the faces of the men elf dolls do vary a little, the faces and the hair of the lady dolls vary greatly from doll to doll, so each lady doll's face is photographed individually.

Tula loves the Christmas season. She looks forward to filling her bag with special gifts, and heading out the door to deliver them to friends and family.
Tula is wearing a red linen skirt, and a yarn-dyed cotton apron, trimmed with rayon ric-rac and organic cotton yarns, with an organic cotton sash She has beige cotton velveteen legs, and is covered with handstitched patches. Her blouse is made of an intricately woven organic colorgrown cotton fabric. Colorgrown means that no dyes are used - the cotton grows in the USA already in this beautiful shade of cream. She wears an organic cotton knit hat, topped with an organic cotton yarn tassel. A deep red glass teardrop necklace completes her outfit.
From one arm Tula holds her bag, made from linen and cotton, and trimmed with an organic cotton braid bow and small glass beads. (It's fun to note that the delicate hand-dyed braid used in both the tote and to trim Tula's skirt, is made in South Carolina with an antique braiding machine and 13 strands of organic cotton yarn). Her bag is filled with Maine balsam.
All of our figures are 100% vegan. Large nisser come with solid, cedar wood seats (shown below), a wire backrest (if you don't wish to use the seat), and a Legend of the Nisse story tag.
